Wilsonville Skatepark / Chuck Green Skate Plaza / Trocadero Park (located basically on the corner of SW Paris Ave and SW Palermo ST) in Wilsonville OR is about 35 mins south of Portland OR. Built by Dreamland Skateparks this park is 6,000 sq ft. and was pretty fun although a bit weird. Firstly, the park is located in this strange newly built suburban sprawling development, to get there you have to go through like four or five roundabouts, actually if you look at the pics on Dreamlands page it looks like they built the park before the even finished the housing development. While I hate this sort of suburban development, I have to give props to Pacific Community Design Group for having the foresight to build a skatepark in the middle of this development. And on that note, I was there early in the morning, but be forewarned this park most definitely is overtaken by scooter kids usually; And on that Note, seriously what is the deal with these freaking scooter kids?? Buy your kids a fucking skateboard and not one of those douchie scooters already, but I digress… Ok, on to the park; The concrete is in a great shape, super smooth and a little bit slick, it has a downward slope leading from the top of the park with a very nice ¾ bowl down to a quarter pipe at the bottom of the park. The ¾ bowl is pretty fun at about 4ft tall all around with nice copping around its entirety, a nice role-in on one side of the bowl with a flat transition on the other side that leads downward to the rest of the park. At the top of the bowl you have a flat area that leads downward to a flat funbox with metal edges on the left, this is followed by a 6 stair gap with a handrail on the right that leads to the flat area that is feed out of the flat transition from the bowl. If you continue on the flat area to the right, you have a two level funbox area then a slight transition with a hand rail in the center that leads to a another two level funbox that has a circle feature that ends with the 5ft quarter pipe that has a slight cutout in the center. If you follow the flat transition out of the bowl downward toward the quarter pipe first you hit a ledge with metal edges to your right and a painted curb to your left, this goes to a 4ft pyramid directly after the curb which is followed by the two level funbox that has a circle feature that ends with the 5ft quarter pipe.. The quarter pipe is fun but a little odd with the cutout, you can ether ollie over it or hit the copping to grind over it, but the pipe has copping on each side that is extended up/outward that is meant to stop boards from flying out of the park but ended up just fucking up my line when trying to grind over the cutout on the quarter pipe. That probably has more to do with me being scared of hitting the pipe edges as visually it comes at you fast but hit it up yourself and see. And finally, you might be asking yourself where is your progression video? (who am I kidding no one is reading this… LOL) Well I was flying solo the day I visited so there was no one to film me doing nothing impressive so you will just have to check back later and see if I still suck or not..
Portland Oregon (and its surrounding areas) is surprisingly a great skateboarding town, PDX “is the first city in the world to have a comprehensive master plan for skateboard park development. SPS conceived of and advocated for a Skatepark System Plan in 2001. It was adopted by Portland Parks & Recreation's skatepark advisory committee and carefully applied to existing park sites over a 24-month planning and public input period, and ultimately supported and passed by Portland’s five elected officials, its city council on August 3, 2005” 1 City council supported and passed a plan for the creation of 19 parks in Aug 2005, But since then more have been supported and built in Portland and the surrounding metro areas. I have found over 100+ parks within 200 miles of Downtown Portland OR, where the majority of them are located, the furthest South West being in Reedsport OR, furthest North in Brier WA, And the furthest East in Ellensburg WA. A few of them are indoors private pay to s
